1 – King Arthur’s Gold

King Arthur’s Gold employs the fortress-building mechanic and creative aspects of Dwarf Fortress and Minecraft, respectively. The maker further goes on to reveal that the game even features the class-based craziness of Team Fortress 2 and the strategy genre of Age of Empires 2. Also known as KAG, this game allows you to construct interesting contraptions and fortresses as well as catapults and siege engines. You can unleash your devious side by blowing up another’s castles in multiplayer mode.

You can further employ the intuitive device controls to interact with everything and exploit the advanced farming system that comes complete 30 different plant types.

Other features read over 420 crafts and 370 block types, customizable signs, dynamic day/night cycle, 120 recipes and a fully-featured lighting system. All these elements can be indulged in even while on the go as the game is available for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. You can purchase the same from the Apple App Store by shelling out just under $3.

Those searching high and low for an online sandbox shooter Terraria alternative might want to check out Brick-Force. You are provided with a virtual playground where you can build any structure, all by using only bricks. Share your complex environments with other fans so that they can use it for their shooting escapades against others in PvP mode. There is also a PvE mode that consists of only computerized enemies. Furthermore, your creations can be played on social networks and portable devices like slates and smartphones. The shooter mode in Brick-Force lets you jump into action in classic Team or Solo Deathmatches, Capture the Flag and Defusion. Get ready to use teamwork and skill to successfully defeat your opponents.

6 – Deepworld

The next entrant in our games similar to Terraria would certainly put a smile on the face of Mac owners. Well, the 2D crafting adventure game dubbed Deepworld is currently available only for the Apple system. It’s set in an online sandbox universe where players can create new worlds and visit those crafted by other gamers as well. The landscape is dotted with caves, mountains, and ruins that are far from safe. You can further mine a plethora of items thanks to the game’s easy inventory system.

Rebuild ecosystems by scouring around for lost technology pieces to build innovative machines. And like many of the other games featured here, Deepworld also enables you to fight dangerous monsters with the help of formidable weapons. Although it’s only out for Mac, the maker reveals that the game will soon be ported onto PC and iOS devices.

7 – Clonk

In Clonk, players can expect nothing less than entertainment, tactics, skill, strategy, and action. Scattered across the in-game landscape are arctic wastelands, deserts, mountains, lakes, volcanoes, a sub-oceanic terrain and even islands floating in mid-air. The customization options are limitless here. You can construct new structures, experience changing weather conditions and play with friends either via local networks or the internet.

Up to 4 players can also dive into the game from one PC itself. A single-player mode is further thrown into the game for those who prefer going in solo. The Clonk series boasts of 3 games namely, Endeavour, Rage, and Extreme. While the former duo is already out, the latter is still under development.
