The Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio which has only been available in the US since its release in late 2021, is now shipping to the UK and the rest of Europe. The notebook is selling in a handful of different configurations, the priciest of which includes the Intel Core i7 processor, 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD storage and GeForce RTX 3050 Ti graphics.
Don’t let the image confuse you; the Surface Laptop Studio’s 14.4-inch PixelSense Flow touch display with its 2400 x 1600 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate is non-detachable. You can slide it forward to hide the keyboard or even lay it flat and use merely touch-based input to operate it. Or you can leave it in the traditional (and default) laptop mode.
If the prospect of a non-detachable screen is putting you off, the Surface Book 3 might be more to your liking. It’s also one of Microsoft’s higher end portable PCs and cheaper too. Coming back to the Surface Laptop Studio, buyers get to pick from quad-core 11th Gen Intel Core i5 or Core i7 chips.
The less expensive models feature integrated Iris Xe graphics — or you can pay more for Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti graphics muscle. The device offers options of 16GB of RAM paired with 256GB to 512GB SSD storage, and 32GB RAM with 512GB, 1TB or 2TB SSD space.
In terms of the other key specifications, the laptop has an 1080p IR webcam, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, backlighting for the keyboard, two mics, four speakers, Dolby Atmos sound, two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It weighs in at approximately 1.8kg and shows off a 322.6mm x 228.6mm x 17.8mm form factor.
The price of the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio starts at £1,449 in the UK and €1,699 in the EU. Pre-order customers will receive a free Surface Slim Pen 2. The notebook will begin shipping on 22 February, 2022.
