Instagram users all over the world may have had trouble using the social media app recently. According to Downdetector, an online outage monitor website, over 62,000 people reported having an issue with the site on Thursday.
The problem has now been resolved, with Instagram saying that it has fixed the “technical issue” because of which many were having trouble accessing the platform.
The @InstagramComms account tweeted, “A technical issue caused people to have trouble accessing Instagram. We resolved this issue for everyone as quickly as possible, and we apologise for any inconvenience.”
More than 87% of people supposedly had problems while using the application, 10% faced an issue while using the website, and 3% had trouble logging in.
Some of the affected users were unable to post stuff like stories and reels due to alleged server issues.
But it was not just Instagram that was having hiccups recently; even Meta-owned Facebook Messenger and Twitter were glitching for many, according to this article. Twitter acknowledged the problem via a tweet from their support account.
Elon Musk even responded to a tweet about social media websites going down due to a possible problem with shared infrastructure (like Amazon Web Services) with “Multiple internal & external issues simultaneously today. Should be fully back on track later tonight.”
While the Instagram outage may not have affected regular folks much, business accounts with a large number of followers (and potential customers) generally face a lot of inconvenience when such incidents occur.
