We’ve gathered some games like Battlefield that should offer the kind of experience DICE’s war-based FPS franchise has you obsessing over.
These titles are filled to the brim with the single-player and multiplayer gameplay elements that have been immortalized by developer EA Digital Illusions CE with their immense series, the most recent addition to which was BF3.
The franchise came into being with the first game which came way back in 2002, and it already has twelve titles in its kitty, with a thirteenth one gearing up for release on next-gen consoles.

The most recent among the lot is Counter-Strike: Global Offensive which released only last week, and has been keeping us busy ever since.
Developed by industry veteran Valve, it takes the iconic CS model and revamps it completely to deliver a gem of a first-person shooter.
It comprises classic content, such as old maps, while brand new features and game modes also make their way into it.
CS:GO has gained extreme popularity in the eSports scene, with the professional games being televised since 2016.
4 – Homefront
This fourth addition to our compilation of Battlefield alternatives lets you play as members of a resistance movement who’re fighting against a North Korean military occupation of the US.
Its overall atmosphere and the story of its campaign are as engrossing as its multiplayer which lays emphasis on vehicular combat.
A sequel Homefront: The Revolution was developed by Dambuster Studios and published by Deep Solver in 2016, following THQ’s bankruptcy.
5 – Delta Force: Black Hawk Down
With war-torn Somalia as its background, Delta Force: Black Hawk Down engrosses you with its stunning portrayal of the horrors faced by the country.
First released in 2003, the game lets you assume the roles of different soldiers throughout its story. From straight-out gunfights, to stealth-based tactical missions, all form part of the immense game which also features a commendable multiplayer mode.

6 – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Series
Nothing spells games similar to Battlefield, the way Call of Duty does. It is a rivalry that often has fans at loggerheads whenever the debate of which one’s better pops up.
Nevertheless, the Call of Duty series is phenomenal, which is elucidated by the fact reportedly sold over 400 million copies by April 2021.
Although most of the games in the series have quite a comprehensive single-player campaign, what keeps gamers busy is the extraordinary multiplayer content which is absolutely addictive, to say the least.

In it, players dive into a near-future Washington D.C. that’s grappling with the aftermath of the devastating “Green Poison” virus. As a Strategic Homeland Division agent, you have to rebuild the city, confront rogue factions and restore hope amid chaos.
This widely praised sequel to 2016’s The Division boasts improved gameplay, visuals, and combat compared to its predecessor, captivating players with its immersive environment and gripping storyline.
The only one gripe you might have is that The Division 2 crossplay functionality is lacking, which is a crying shame considering that its multiplayer elements are excellent.
8 – Far Cry
Ubisoft’s exceptional first-person shooter anthology franchise takes no prisoners while delivering some really exhilarating experiences.
Since Far Cry 2, the games in this series have been developed to offer players an open world-style of gameplay, each with a main story, side missions and optional quests.
They don’t have the same narrative elements. But the main device involves placing the player in a wilderness or similar environment surviving against the law of the jungle, despots, wild animals and a society tearing itself apart.
Far Cry 2 is set in a modern-day Central African nation which is being torn apart by anarchy and civil war. You play the good guy who must embark upon a quest find and kill ‘The Jackal,’ an infamous gun runner.
Far Cry 3 takes place on the fictional Rook Islands, Far Cry 4 is set in the imaginary nation of Kyrat in the Himalayan region, and so on and so forth.
9 – Borderlands
A mixture of role-playing and first-person shooter action is what Borderlands has to offer. Its focus on co-op play is something that sets it apart from all the titles we’ve listed here.
Its entire campaign can either be played alone or in cooperative mode, with support for two-players on split-screen and up to four players online or over LAN.
