Start Collecting Data

One of the most important things you can do is start collecting information about your customers. The more you learn about your audience, the more effective you can make your marketing efforts. You might want to learn about your audience: where they live, their income level, where they work, what websites they visit online, their interests, or the other types of products they buy.

You can gather this information in several ways. You could send out a survey to your previous customers, as they clearly represent your audience. Another option is to work with an outside research firm to have them collect information for you. Finally, be sure you’re tracking visitor information on your website. The sooner you start collecting information about your audience, the sooner you can start putting that information in your marketing decisions.

Target Previous and Repeat Customers

Finally, ensure you’re targeting both previous and repeat customers with your marketing efforts, not just new ones. If someone is a previous customer or a repeat customer, they are more likely to shop with you again in the future. Rather than wasting resources trying to convince someone to become a customer, you can generate a sale by targeting someone who’s already been convinced before.
