The Sony Tablet S may be an irregular sort of slate when it comes to design, but it looks like the company has enough reason to be lowering its price in order to tempt regular folks. Running on Android 3.2 OS, this 9.4-inch slate has witnessed a $100 slash in its price tag and we’re referring to both its 16GB and 32GB variants.
The slab is complete with a contemporary design and hides a 1GHz dual core Nvidia Tegra 2 chip under its hood. The full size SD card accommodation is merely for the purpose of media storage. Additionally, a 5000mAh lithium-ion battery is present to offer the juice for up to 8 hours on a single charge for users on the move. As for the snappers, the 3MP one on its rear panel can be employed by ardent photographers and the front-facing camera can be deployed to work as well.
A post on Engadget shares that last month saw the company cutting off $50 from the price at which the Tablet S was selling and the deal was only expected to last through the month of December. But now a further $50 drop has brought a total cut of $100 on the slate’s cost and this will reportedly remain permanent.
Needless to say, the dropped price doesn’t reflect well on the sales that this tablet may probably be able to boast of. Then again, its late entry into the already competitive market of such devices which has been welcoming low cost slates could probably be one of the few reasons that the offering was not grabbed by as many people as the company may have expected.
