The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 from AT&T will finally be granted the feature it was promised but was delayed for so long. The Multi Window trait which grants the phablet the ability to split its screen for running two different applications at the same time will be coming out later today in the form of an over the air software update. Although the feature has been part of models worldwide, handsets in the US had shipped sans it for some reason. Carriers like T-Mobile, Verizon and Sprint have already dished out similar updates for their variants.
Multi Window basically allows users to exploit the 5.5-inched display that the Galaxy Note 2 prides itself on. They can split the screen in two, and indulge in two different applications at the same time. For instance, if they’re browsing the web, and feel the need to check their emails at the same time, they don’t need to exit the browser to do so. Long pressing the back button will give them the option to open their Gmail application in one half of the screen. Only select apps work with the trait however.
Released earlier this year, the company’s flagship device comes with 4G LTE attributes that are provided to it by all the carriers that are offering it. The phone houses a 1.6GHz quad core processor which teams up with 2GB of RAM for running its operations smoothly. The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS lies at the heart of this device which is powered by a 3100mAh battery that grants it a talktime of up to 15 hours and a standby time of up to 12 and a half days.
Its rear camera is an 8MP one which comes with an LED flash and 4X zoom in tow. On its flip side, there’s a 1.9MP snapper as well, for video chatting purposes. Attributes like Bluetooth 4.0, S Beam, the S Pen, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, mobile hotspot and more also make their way into the smartphone. Furthermore, it even possesses a microSD slot which is capable of expanding its storage capacity till up to 64GB.
The Multi Window software update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is slated to go live sometime later today, according to a statement released by AT&T through Engadget.
